Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday expressed gratitude to Saudi Arabia for extending oil facility to Pakistan against deferred payments, saying the gesture was a ‘timely support f
or the country’s
economy’.
“The brotherly gesture of the Kingdom provided timely support to the
economy of Pakistan at a crucial juncture,” the prime minister told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, as the two leaders met on the sidelines of the 14th Summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Makkah.
The Crown Prince extended a warm welcome to Imran Khan on his visit, read a statement issued by the PM’s Office. The prime minister thanked the Crown Prince f
or the traditional Saudi hospitality and extended felicitations on Saudi Arabia’s assumption of the OIC
chair. The two leaders took stock of the current state of bilateral po
litical,
economic and trade relations. They agreed to expedite implementation of the decisions made during the visit of Prince Mohammad bin Salman to Pakistan in February, particularly the ones taken during the first meeting of the Pak-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council. The two leaders also agreed to regularly exchange views on all issues of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan also met Bosnian President Sefik Dzaferovi
c on the sidelines of the OIC summit and the two leaders agreed to work towards closer cooperation in spheres of trade,
economy and culture.
They also discussed matters of mutual interest and stressed the need for high-level po
litical exchanges between the two countries.
